Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Review

January 13, 2016Makeup Product Reviews, Treat Yo Self0

I am a huge liquid lipstick fan. Anything that’s matte was made for me. I admittedly own liquid lipsticks from very few brands because they can get rather pricey.

I decided to give more expensive liquid lipsticks a chance to see if the extra money makes it worth it. I’ve been lusting over Ofra’s and Kat Von D’s liquid lipsticks for a whiiiiile.

As soon as Mac’s liquid lipsticks were announced, I planned to buy one. Ive never purchased a makeup product as soon as it’s been released into the market. It was a “treat yo self moment.” (I’m going to make more posts on high-end products I treated myself to!)

I have about 50 lip products, each in a different shade. The only shade I didn’t have was a coral, peachy color, so I settled on Rich & Restless. It looked so gorgeous online and in swatches. I bought it for $20 as soon as I heard it was live online and got free overnight shipping with the code “next”.

I tested this product twice – at a breakfast outing and at work. I only wore it for about an hour at most before I ate during the breakfast outing, so I was really pleased. The second time (Monday) countered my pleasant thoughts.

I am so dissatisfied with this product. Mac’s lip products are heavenly and always a treat. The formula is a bit streaky, so two coats is a must. When the lipstick dries down, it looks pasty abs feels pretty uncomfortable. It settled into my lips’ fine lines (I didn’t even know I had any) and the color cracked within 3 hours of working. Same thing happened after my breakfast outing because it lasted that long. I didn’t even eat with it on at work by this 3 hour mark. I couldn’t believe I paid more than triple for what I usually pay for a liquid lipstick (I usually purchase Colourpop’s $6 Ultra Matte Lips). It stayed put a bit when I finally ate, except for the inner part of my mouth, but that’s to be expected with any lip product. I retouched the middle and I thought I was good to go. 3 hours later and the inner part looked as it did when I finished eating.

Post 3 hour breakfast outing. It’s fading in the middle ?

Post 7 hour shift @ work pic. Disastrous even after a touch-up ?

I do take into consideration that maybe the color affected the outcome, but it was too disappointing for the $20 I spent.

This product is a 2/5.

Let me know if I should give it another chance or just exchange it!

Morphe 35O Review

January 10, 2016Makeup Product Reviews0

The Morphe 35O has been all the rage on Instagram. It’s always out of stock and when it happens to be in stock, it’s announced by multiple makeup enthusiasts and it last for about 10 minutes.

I was able to get it on Thanksgiving Day. I wasn’t even lusting over it, but I wanted a warm toned palette and to see what all the hype was about. Everyone swore it’s so great, but maybe that’s the affiliation links talking.

The palette is gorgeous and the pigmentation is impressive. You do get a bang for your buck because it’s 35, good-sized pans for $22.99. The colors are buildable and I really enjoy that because I sometimes want light washes of color on my eyes. The color range is great and I appreciate all the browns and how each one is slightly different from each other.

I must say that I’m underwhelmed. It’s a good palette, but I don’t understand the craze. It’s not creamy or extremely blendable as some people have claimed. It gets the job done, but not exceptionally well. I would consider purchasing another Morphe palette solely for the price. I wouldn’t go out of my way to say it’s a staple like an Urban Decay Naked palette.

This palette is a 4/5, mostly for its price point.

Kiss Lashes “Flirty”

January 9, 2016Beauty, On Fridays we wear falsies0

These lashes were given to me by a friend. The lash’s band is very flexible, making the lashes comfortable to wear. It’s perfect for a simple, winged eyeliner look; I’m a huge fan of long/ dramatic lashes.

The only downside is that these lashes are too long for me to wear with my glasses. I wish that these lashes had shorter stands towards the end intended to be closest to the tear duct to make it a bit more natural.

I prepped my lashes with the L’Oréal Telescopic Mascara in the gold tube before applying these false eyelashes.

Have you tried any Kiss lashes? Any specific ones that I should try? Let me know in the comments below!
