I hope you’re all having a great Wednesday! ?
Today, I want to talk about the City Color Cosmetics Contour Effects 2 contouring palette. I know there’s a version before this one, but I decided to purchase this one. It had better reviews than the original palette on Amazon lol. I purchased this for about $8 on Amazon and got free, 2-day shipping (one time for Amazon Prime and their student specials ✊?????)
This palette is perfect for beginners. It has the right amount of pigmentation; it must be built up. It’s best to start off with a small amount of product and work it into the face, depending how much of a sculpted look you want.
I use my e.l.f. cosmetics Small Tapered brush to contour, e.l.f. Total Face Brush to apply bronzer and the EcoTools Deluxe Fan brush to highlight the top of my cheekbones and faintly the tip of my nose.
The first pan is a taupe, brown shade labeled as the contour shade. I feel like this color is perfect for me because it is light enough for a subtle contour, but deep enough for days I want to be a sculpted goddess. I have rather fair skin, so I’m not sure how this color would look on darker skin tones. The City Color website claims that it works on all skin types, though. That is totally debatable.
The second pan is light tan bronzer. I like using this as a blush on top and above my contour with a big, fluffy brush for natural makeup days. It provides a perfect touch when I’m not in the mood for a pink or red blush. This shade is pretty light and it takes me a while to build up. Like the contour shade, I’m not sure how it’d work as a bronzer on darker skin. Sometimes I like to take a large crease brush and pop this into my crease when I’m not in the mood to wear eyeshadow or to complement a winged eye liner. I’ve also used this dark, eye makeup looks and it doesn’t detract from it. It’s an okay bronzer. I prefer the NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny a lot more.
The third pan a white gold is a highlighter. It’s my favorite thing about the palette. The highlight is pigmented and gives such a healthy and natural glow. It’s been my go-to highlight. This is something that’ll look fantastic on all skin types. It’s very easy to build this up and get that highlight poppin’!
I rate this a 4/5, and I recommend it to all of you if you’re a beginner.
