Boho Chic/ Preppy/ Cali/ 70s Outfit for a Day in Lakeland, Florida

July 6, 2018Fashion, OOTD + OOTN0

When I was packing for my trip to Lakeland, the first question I had for my friend that lives there is how people dress. If you live in Miami, you know fashion here is different. I didn’t want to look like a total tourist. She verbatim described it as “preppy/Cali/70s are all the rage over here. Tan blonde balayage everything” LMAO. She even gave me the link to her friend’s IG that embodies that look, and she’s also a blogger!

After checking out her friend — you should check her out too! @annamariehouse on Instagram — I tried my best to match Lakeland couture with at least one outfit. Here’s my outfit for a day in Lakeland:

Details:

Dress: Amazon

Shoes: Target

Hat: Target

Sunglasses: Franchesca’s

Choker: Etsy

Necklace: MyNameNecklace

I’ll be honest: I bought the hat just for this look lmao. I’ve never been a hat gal, but I decided it’d fun to experiment with one. Hats are useful to have in Florida anyway, so I was convinced. Target was having a sale at the moment, so I got the hat for $12. My head is a little big, but it sits nicely on the top of it without falling, giving me a headache or looking awkward.

When I think of boho, I always visualize tie dye patterns. My outfit for a day in Lakeland conveys that but in a chic Miami way with the slits on both sides. I describe it as “Miami” because this city takes fashion risks, and sometimes they’re for the sake of the weather ? Those slits were awesome because if it got too hot, I got a nice breeze. I didn’t feel confined by the dress.

The shoes were probably my favorite part because they were SO comfortable and matched any look. There was some rain throughout the day and rest of the trip, so these were ideal to walk with in the rain. They dried quickly after being wet and didn’t degrade in quality afterwards.

And a side note: for the first time, my outfit is mostly full of items I recently bought, so I can provide links! Most of the time I combine several items I got a while ago that are no longer available. Is this what it feels like to be a blogger? ?

What do you think of my outfit for a day in Lakeland? How would you dress in Lakeland? How do you envision the way everyone dresses there? Let me know if the comments below! And if you want to know what else I did in Lakeland, check out my Central Florida itinerary.

Girl you looked cute!! I think you got the Lakeland vibe down 🙂 I’ve been into hats lately and never thought to check for them at Target. My boyfriend squished one of mine not too long ago (he lied down on it), so I’m in need of one!
