My skin is the fleshly embodiment of the Sahara desert. Skincare is everything to me. I’ve been on the hunt for good products for my skin. These are top 5 go-to, holy grail products:
- Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer – A good facial moisturizer is key. I’ve made the mistake of using a regular body lotion for my face. It dries out my skin even more because body lotions typically contain alcohol. Moisturizer should be applied liberally and evenly at least 5 minutes prior to the application of a face product.
$6.99 – sold at most retailers with health/ beauty sections.
- Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm – As absurd as it sounds, this is a great primer. A primer is key for dry skin because it is a second layer of necessary moisture. The more hydrated facial skin is, the longer makeup will last and the less cakey it will look. Not to mention that it prevents makeup from sticking to dry spots and it creates a more natural look. Moisturizer is even more important now during the winter/ colder/ breezier months. Apply this product after a moisturizer and let it sit for 5 minutes. **Disclaimer: It has that typical manly scent that comes with most male-marketed health/ beauty products, but it fades away by the time it settles into the skin.

- CeraVe Moisturizing Cream for Normal to Dry Skin – Beauty care and skincare regiments aren’t only about the face – the skin as a whole must be addressed. This body lotion will keep your skin hydrated and healthy all day. Best to apply 2-3 times a day to achieve maximum results. Good results will show within a week’s use.
$13.99 – sold at most retailers with health/ beauty sections.
- Maybelline Baby Lips (left) (right) – Whether or not someone uses lip glosses, lip tints or lip sticks, moisturized lips are important. Chapped lips are painful and very preventable. These lip balms come in various flavors and tints to match anyone interested in a good lip moisturizer. Some of these even contain sunscreen and have no flavor or tint. Some are even medicated. It glides on very easily and works great as a primer under drying lip products such as liquid lipsticks or matte lipsticks.
$3.99 – sold at most retailers with health/ beauty sections.
- St. Ives Nourished & Smooth Oatmeal Scrub & Mask – This is the only face wash I’ve come across that doesn’t dry my skin. It’s the only face wash that makes my face actually feel moisturized. It also serves as a facial mask and helps remove any residual makeup, making it the ultimate face wash for dry skinned beauties.
$3.99 – sold at most retailers with health/ beauty sections.
